Wilson's School

Farewell to the Class of 2026!

Last Friday marked the final day of lessons for students in Year 13. The occasion was celebrated with a range of activities across the last few weeks It has been an emotional as we say goodbye to so many individuals who have played a huge part in life at Wilson's over the past seven years.

For the past year, our prefects have given up their time before school, after school, lunch and break times to carry out various duties. Their role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day activities throughout the school, as well as modelling behaviours and the Wilson’s ethos. We offered our thanks to this group at the Prefect Dinner at the RAF club in Piccadilly.

Soon after this, the astros in Hannibal Way also played host to the annual 7-aside Staff vs Prefects fixture. A flattering 16-1 win for the Staff continued a now well-established Wilson’s tradition, and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who played and spectated.

In their final week, Year 13 enjoyed a celebration assembly on Tuesday morning featuring a video of memories from the last 7 years. In the afternoon, celebrations then took place amongst the staff after retaining the Simmons Shield awarded to the winners of the hotly-anticipated Staff vs Leavers match. The leavers put up a good fight, but the game ended with a 6-3 staff win. The shield will take pride of place in the Sixth Form Office for a fourth consecutive year.

On Thursday, the students wore their old Wilson’s uniform. We had Lower School ties and House badges, as well as House ties and some very outgrown blazers! But it was great to see so many students sporting their old attire. Students and staff then headed over to CroyGas in the afternoon for the Leavers BBQ. It was a lovely event, with shirt signing and a chance to say some final goodbyes.

The week ended on Friday with the customary fancy dress parade, a buffet provided by the PFA, photobooth and inflatable obstacle course. It rounded off a very enjoyable week and we hope they look back with fond memories once they have completed their exams.

We wish the class of 2026 the very best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. We are deeply proud of them.
