Football Update #2
Players of the Week
It was an action-packed week of school football, with excellent performances across the age groups. From impressive debuts and hat-tricks to last-minute winners and young players making the step up to senior football, there was plenty to celebrate.
U12A – Baran Makes a Brilliant Debut
A special mention goes to Baran (Year 7), who made his debut in goal for the U12A’s. Thrown straight into the action, Baran showed fantastic composure and confidence between the sticks, making several important saves and giving his team a real sense of security at the back.
U14A – Jad Bags a Hat-Trick!
Jad (U14A’s) was the headline act for the U14A’s, putting in a superb attacking display and helping himself to a brilliant hat-trick! His finishing was clinical, his movement caused problems throughout, and he was a constant threat in front of goal.
U15B – Daniel Delivers Last-Minute Drama
With the clock ticking down against Glyn, Daniel (Year 10) produced a huge moment for the U15B’s, finding the back of the net with a last-minute winner.
U15A – Sam Leads the Way
For the U15A’s, Sam (Year 10) put in an outstanding performance from start to finish. Full of energy, commitment and quality, Sam was at the heart of an excellent team display.
1st XI – Aidan Steps Up
Aidan (Year 11) showed tremendous maturity by stepping up to the 1st XI as a Year 11 — and he certainly made his opportunity count! Aidan found the net twice, producing a fantastic attacking display against much more experienced opposition.
Team of the Week
With the U12A’s making an encouraging start, the 1st XI producing two emphatic victories, the Year 10’s winning both away fixtures, and the U14A’s delivering a complete 5–0 performance, it was another excellent week for Wilson’s School football.
U12A’s – A Promising Beginning
The U12A’s began their Wilson’s football journey with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against St Dunstan’s in their first ever game.
It was an impressive introduction to competitive school football, with the team showing excellent organisation, resilience and determination throughout. To keep a clean sheet in their first outing was a particularly pleasing aspect of the performance. Well done to captain Zen (Year 7) and the squad.
1st XI – Two Wins, 13 Goals and No Goals Conceded
It was a superb week for the 1st XI, who produced two emphatic victories, scoring an outstanding 13 goals while conceding none.
Year 10 – Perfect Away Record This Week
The Year 10’s also enjoyed an excellent week, recording two away victories against Glyn for the A’s and B’s.
Winning both fixtures on the road is a strong achievement and reflects the determination and consistency within the group.
Team of the Week – U14As
Team of the Week goes to the U14As, who produced arguably the standout performance of the week with a superb 5–0 victory over Glyn.
The scoreline was impressive, but it was the manner of the performance that really caught the eye. The U14A’s delivered a fine, complete display, combining quality in possession with excellent movement, disciplined defending and a real attacking threat.
