Junior Maths Challenge
After the results of the Junior Maths Challenge back in April, 19 students qualified for the Junior Maths Olympiad which took place in June 2024. This is the most challenging of the follow rounds to the JMC and involves a selection of short answer questions (Section A) and questions which required detailed workings and explanations (Section B).
Certificates are awarded based on the total score of Section A and Section B. The top-scoring 25% of participants received a Certificate of Distinction, the next top 40% received a Certificate of Merit. The remaining students received either a certificate of qualification or participation.
Medals are awarded based on the total score of Section B only. Each of the top 40 scorers in the country receive a gold medal, the next 60 a silver medal and the next 100 a bronze medal. All medallists also received a book prize. From Wilson’s, one of our students, Anthony, achieved a gold medal. Titus achieved a silver medal, and two students achieved bronze medals: Dexter and Keynes. This is an amazing achievement, so we wish our best congratulations to them.
The photo below shows some of our prize winners who were awarded their books, medals and certificates by Mr Hudson, Director of Mathematics. Very well done to all of the students who took part in the JMO!
