Last Saturday, I went to my local parkrun at Roundshaw Downs. As it was on the announcements slide, I thought I'd give it a try. It was the first time I had ever run at parkrun. At first, 5 kilometres seemed quite daunting - the longest I had ever ran was 1.5km at school for Sports day, but I never expected parkrun to have a totally different experience. I was in the starting position, with fellow Wilsonians by my side. I felt ready to tackle the 5 kilometres. And so, I started, beginning with a steady pace and running progressively kilometre by kilometre. After all, it wasn't a race. I was here to improve my fitness, and that was the most important goal to achieve. But not only that, I learnt how open parkrun is. As I just started my second lap, I talked to a fellow runner. He told me that he was 68 years old and he was cruising through the course. A true inspiration! Parkrun has helped me realise the importance of fresh air and exercise, especially when it's with a friendly community. I hadn't been to my local park for a long time, and going to parkrun helped me to rejuvenate and relax. So, clearly parkrun, along with improving my physical fitness, has helped me establish a positive mindset and consequently, I would recommend anyone reading this to join their local parkrun.

In total Wilson's had 23 runners and volunteers including students, staff, parents/family, Old Wilsonians and even Pikachu (Sai from Y12, see photo right above)! Points awarded to each House were as follows:

Southwark – 60
We are all looking forward to Sports Day on Friday, 15 July. Please take note of the arrangements below, and particularly the requirement for all pupils to come to school in House Sports Kit.
Extended form time: 8.35-9.30
Sports Day starts: 10.00 (all students seated)
All students stay in house area and in form groups
Students dismissed to go home at 12.40.
NO LUNCH SERVICE FOR STUDENTS.
- House Kit (White shirt; white socks; white shorts: no other tops or tracksuits. If cold students should wear PE kit sports top, not a coat.)
- Hat / sun visor Sunscreen
- No books and bags. Lockers / cubby holes should be empty
