Wilsonian wins at Wimbledon

We were delighted to see Mark (Year 12) win his First Round match in the Boys' Singles category at Wimbledon.

On Sunday 5 July, Mark triumphed against the American player Gavin Goode on Court 18 winning a high-quality match 7-5, 4-6, 7-5 (a recording of the match is available on BBC iPlayer here).

Progressing to the Second Round, Mark was then drawn to face the No.2 seed in the tournament, Jamie Mackenzie, on Court 4. A closely-fought match against one of the highest ranked U18 players in the world saw Mark lose a tiebreak 3-7 in the first set, level proceedings by winning the second set 6-3, before ultimately losing the deciding set 4-6 and thus the match.

In recent years, Mark’s tennis skills have seen him shine on the international stage alongside his studies at Wilson’s, winning numerous competitions including the Wimbledon Championships (U14 Juniors) back in 2023.

We are proud of Mark's performances, and wish him the very best for his efforts as he continues to represent Wilson's across the world!
