Wilson's School

Development Priorities

Ambitious schools have ambitious plans; our Development Priorities showcase the new buildings and initiatives we intend on bringing to life at Mollison Drive.

Naming & Sponsorship Opportunities

Our aspiration to be a world class school is underpinned by a range of exciting capital and non-capital projects on the horizon with support being sought at all levels.

In many cases, these projects come with sponsorship opportunities and – in most instances – it is possible to associate your name, or your company’s name, with these.

Opened in 2023, our new music block – the 'Britton Centre' – bears the name of an Old Wilsonian from the Class of 1991

If you are interested in supporting any of the opportunities listed in the two tables below, please contact the development team via email who would be delighted to explore this with you further.

Capital Projects

Capital opportunities in italics have already been completed. Capital opportunities in bold are either in the planning stage, or are completed, but now require a name.

Britton Centre £3,500,000 Opened in 2023, our new music block features a state-of-the-art recital room, classrooms, practice rooms, and a fitness suite that overlooks the school’s playing fields. The Britton Centre was fully equipped in 2022 following our first Giving Day in 2022 which raised £135,000 from over 500 donors.
Lower School  £1,900,000 Accommodating the addition of a sixth form in 2014 (taking us to 186 boys per year group), the Lower School was created to enable most of the teaching of our Year 7 and 8 students to take place in a purpose-built area. This enables younger students to transfer seamlessly from primary school to a secondary school education at Wilson’s.
John Jenkins Hall  £500,000

Completed in 2015 and bearing the name of a well-respected former Deputy Head, the renovation of our hall transformed the heart of the school, elevating its status as a venue for school assemblies and important events. This includes our annual Prize Giving ceremony, concerts and impressive productions staged by our talented Drama Department.

Economics Department  £300,000 Our new Economics Department will finally provide this flagship department with the facilities it deserves. Drawing inspiration from our OW community, we are committed to establishing a fitting space for our business-minded students to study and enhance their entrepreneurial spirit.
Research Facility £180,000 Designing a state-of-the-art facility to provide future medics with facilities to support their Sixth Form studies rarely seen in secondary schools is a key aim of our next capital project. We look forward to drawing inspiration from our OW community.
S5 & S7 Laboratories  £100,000 Refurbishment work for two of our science laboratories was completed across the summer holidays in 2025, dramatically improving the teaching and learning experience of Physics, Biology and Chemistry at Mollison Drive. This was facilitated by our second Giving Day in 2024 which raised £104,000 from 320 donors.

This prestigious space is available for appropriate naming opportunities.

The Benjamin Room £15,000 The heart of our newly created Wellbeing Centre, the Benjamin Room was officially opened in 2023 with support from our alumni and the Old Wilsonians Association. The room is named in memory of Kirk Benjamin – a popular alumnus and figure at the OWA – and is a key meeting space for matters relating to pupil wellbeing.
SMART Boards £2,000 (x2)

The provision of 25 new touch screen SMART whiteboards were implemented across the last two years at Wilson's School.

We are now seeking funding for two more whiteboards at a cost of £2,000 each.

Lockers £25 (x950)

All students in Years 7 – 11 have a locker at Wilson’s. Many of these are well over a decade old, and we are now in the process of replacing these.

Non-Capital Projects

Non-capital opportunities in italics have already been funded. Non-capital opportunities in bold are either in the planning stage, or are live, but now in need of funding.

Opportunities Value Description
Templeton Funding £400,000 In 2018, funding to further advance the ability for our students to access the best Higher Education opportunities was donated by an Old Wilsonian in the form of a legacy pledge.
Outreach Programme £40,000 per year

Founded in January 2019, The Wilson’s Outreach programme equips primary school children from some of the most disadvantaged children in the local community with the knowledge, skills and confidence to sit entry tests for Sutton’s selective schools.

Generous benefaction from an Old Wilsonian enabled the scheme to operate in its early years.

We now seek sponsorship from a new source to support expand this provision for future years.

Year 7 Music Programme £25,000 per year

Nearly a decade ago, the Music Department began to offer free specialist tuition in voice or a musical instrument to every pupil in Year 7. All pupils start a new instrument as part of the programme, and the instruments and equipment are provided free of charge to pupils.

Many students continue to play their instruments beyond Year 7 and they prove to be enthusiastic and accomplished members of our various ensembles. Pupils who have started learning in Year 7 have obtained places at music colleges as well as Oxbridge choral scholarships.

We now seek sponsorship from a new source to support this provision for future years.

Wilson's Patrons £10,000 per year

Wilson's Patrons are available to individuals that choose to sponsor a key subject or activity at Mollison Drive. These include:

  • CCF – Established in 1910, Wilson's CCF trains young men and women (from Wallington High School for Girls since 2014) to develop their qualities of leadership, self-reliance and initiative, and offers unique opportunities for outward-bound activities such as mountaineering, gliding, orienteering and parachuting. Under the leadership of Contingent Commander, Major Burton, the CCF has enjoyed great success in recent years winning the Nationals in 2022 and becoming regional RASTC Champions in 2025.

  • Drama – Every year, the Drama Department stages three major events in the school. Our Year 7 Drama Soirée, Senior Production and Junior Production, enable students to continue their love and passion for the subject in their own time out of lessons. In 2026, our Senior Production - Shakespeare's, 'Richard II' - was of exceptional quality, and we look forward to a lighter offering in the Summer Term with rehearsals underway for the Junior Production of 'We Will Rock You!'.

  • Duke of Edinburgh – The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has been offered at Wilson’s School since September 2008, and provides pupils at Mollison Drive with the opportunity to challenge themselves, acquire new skills, experience adventure, and work with others. A popular choice for students in Year 9 and above, we regularly see over 70% of all Year 9s and Year 10s working towards their Bronze Award, roughly half of all Year 11s working towards their Silver Award and around 30 Year 12s each year working towards their Gold Award.

  • Music – Pupils at Wilson’s are able to join a large range of ensembles to match their experience and enthusiasm, with senior students playing more challenging repertoire in the Senior Orchestra, String Orchestra and Chamber Wind Ensembles. Over 100 boys sing in the school choir. During a normal school year, we host well over thirty-five concerts, recitals, productions, and other musical events.
Football 1st XI £5,000 per year

Our Football 1st XI, expertly managed by Mr Wells, won the Sutton Cup in 2026 to finish a season where they recorded an impressive 70% win rate.

We are now seeking sponsorship for our flagship football side for the 2026/27 season.

Robotics  £4,000 (x2) Our two cross-year robotics teams – ‘Wilsobotics’ and ‘Wilsonic Boom’ – are both seeking sponsors to enable them to purchase materials. Both sides continue to compete at a high level, representing Wilson’s with great success on the national stage.
Solar Sparks £3,000 The ‘Solar Sparks’ team at Wilson’s has been formed by a group of Year 10 students that have entered the UK’s Big Bang Competition. Attempting to develop transparent solar panels, the team are in search of sponsors, industry introductions, and specific materials. Their aspirational budget – at present – is £3,000, although this is subject to change based on new developments.
Club Benefactors £2,500 per year

Larger clubs at Wilson's can be sponsored on a yearly basis. These often boast success on the national and international stage, and include:

  • Debating – In 2026, a Year 13 Wilson's student represented England at the European Debating Championship in Skopje, North Macedonia.
  • Chess – In 2025, we had tremendous success winning the British Team Chess Challenge.
  • Badminton – Our KS4 badminton team won the Badminton England National Finals in March 2026.
  • Table Tennis – Our KS4 team competed in the Individual National Championships in March 2026, where performances across the board were excellent with three out of four players progressing from the group stages.
  • Cricket – Wilson's continues to rank in the Top 100 UK senior schools for cricket, as per The Cricketer's Schools Guide.
Society Sponsors £1,000 per year

Dozens of smaller clubs and societies meet on a weekly basis at Wilson's including Rubik's Cube Club, Model UN Society, and Dissection Club to name a few.

A £1,000 donation covers support staff costs related to running these at lunchtimes and outside of school hours, and offers the opportunity to associate your name with the club (e.g. the John Smith Law Society).

Running Machines £750 (x2)

Officially opened in 2023, our state-of-the-art Fitness Suite is situated on the ground floor of the Britton Centre.

We are now seeking sponsorship for two additional running machines to to this very popular space.

Talybont Fellows £411

For generations, new students at Wilson’s have enjoyed the opportunity to visit Wales and Herefordshire. Many alumni remark on the impact of these trips, with fond memories of friendships being formed whilst climbing Pen-y-Fan, descending Big Pit, or completing other outdoor activities. This long-standing tradition is continued to this day, with our Year 7 pupils set to visit the Brecon Beacons in the first week of June.

We are now seeking sponsorship to ensure this trip remains accessible to all pupils, regardless of socioeconomic background.

In our 411th year, Talybont Fellows will be supporting the school’s ability to part-fund this trip for students that could otherwise not afford to go on them.

Football Teams £250 (x27)

Beyond the 1st XI, 27 other Football teams competed over the 2025/26 season for Wilson’s School. Across 401 games, 1,122 goals were scored and 210 games were won, resulting in a 52% schoolwide win rate.

We are now seeking sponsorship for each of these sides for the 2026/27 season. We are also seeking sponsorship for each of our Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball, Squash, and Tennis teams at the same level.

School Trips £200

Beyond our annual Year 7 visit to the Brecon Beacons, several other school trips take place across the school year at Wilson's. These include domestic day trips to places such as Kew Gardens and the Houses of Parliament, as well as trips abroad to countries like France and Germany for instance as part of our Year 10 Battlefields Trip.

We are keen to enable supporters to directly fund pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, to ensure they can continue to participate in trips outside of the curriculum.

If you are interested in supporting any of these opportunities, please contact the development team via email who would be delighted to hear from you.

Lump sum donations above the £250 mark automatically qualify donors for The 1615 Club for the calendar year in which they are made.
